ABOUT THE BOOK

Serenity One Day At A Time is a 365-day meditation book grounded in Twelve-Step recovery principles. It is designed to support individuals seeking freedom from compulsive sexual behaviors while offering a respectful, non-shaming resource for counselors, churches, and families.

Each day offers a brief reflection, insight, or encouragement to help readers stay grounded in their recovery journey.

Originally written by Mike as daily text messages to his sponsees seeking freedom from pornography addiction, these reflections became a source of strength and accountability—eventually forming the book you hold today.

This is not a clinical manual or a replacement for counseling. It is a steady, compassionate companion for those choosing recovery, honesty, and growth.

Appropriate For:

  • Individuals in recovery

  • Counseling and therapy referrals

  • Faith-based discussion groups

  • Partners seeking understanding

From the Author

On September 21st, 2012, I wrote a blistering goodbye letter to my addiction. I meant every word of it, and have never looked back.

Although my marriage has never fully recovered from the ravages of porn addiction, I am enjoying some of the happiest days of my life. My wife and I have begun watching TV, shopping, walking, taking day trips, and exercising together. I am continuing to learn compassion and love for one I formerly robbed of happiness.

Love is a choice I have consciously made and stand by, not a feeling by which I am overwhelmed, and that sometimes is difficult (but getting easier) for a love and porn addict.

Two winters ago, I was given the gift of chemotherapy for stage four metastatic cancer that traveled to my lungs. During this time, after twelve years of sobriety, I learned how to do Steps three and seven more completely. Who would have thought that sickness, which at times seemed like a death sentence, would end up giving me a life so abundant? Steps three and seven are now daily steps for me.

Due to some of my life circumstances, I should be miserable, but I am not! I am an inheritor of the promises. I am joyous and free.

At a recovery barbecue one day, we paused for a gratitude session. Each person spoke in turn. I said only one thing. "I have seen S. become an honourable person." We all knew it was true. I was witness to an amazing miracle. I pray the same for you.

This journey is no longer just about me; it is about you also becoming whole, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. You are worth complete recovery. Help is available.
